HGV Mobile Mechanic

Grade 7, £24,313 to £26,317 per annum

£2,300 per annum standby allowance and overtime

37 hours per week (Mechanics out of Hours Scheme)

An exciting opportunity for a HGV Mobile Technician within our busy Transport department based in Thirsk. Working as part of our Workshop team on our 220 vehicle fleet made up of Heavy Goods Vehicles, Cars and Vans. Also includes all of our plant and ancillary equipment i.e. high and low pressure water pumps, ladders, and cutting equipment, this list is not exhaustive. Specialist training will be provided where necessary. You will be working around the county in North Yorkshire Fire Stations along with supporting incidents when required.

The successful applicant will be skilled in all aspects of HGV vehicle repairs and servicing including diagnostics and electrical aspect of our work. You must be able to produce high quality work in a pressurised environment that is both dynamic and diverse.

You will be prepared to be flexible according to the need of your team and customers. Our Workshops function offers its customers a 24 hours 365 day service and you will be required to work an out of hour’s rota, working outside, on site in all types of conditions in order to provide this service and maintain availability of our vehicles and equipment.

The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the mechanics out of hour’s scheme, providing flexible cover for out of hours servicing of vehicles and equipment.  The post is conditioned to the Scheme of Conditions of Service for NJC Local Government Services. Benefits include 24 days’ annual leave (29 days after 5 years’ continuous service), Local Government Pension Scheme and optional additional benefits.
