Community Safety Officer - Scarborough

Job description:

37 hours per week (including some evening and weekend work by arrangement)

This is a permanent post

Applications are invited for the post of Community Safety Officer covering Scarborough. 

The working pattern for the role will be in agreement with the Station Manager responsible for the area and will be flexible to meet the requirements of the role.  From time to time, there will be a requirement to undertake some evening and weekend work as part of the normal duties of the role. 

The main function of the role will be to carry out Community Safety work in accordance with occupational standards (see role profile).  Duties will include informing and educating the community to improve awareness of safety matters, contributing to fire safety solutions to minimise risk in the community and liaising with key agencies through community safety initiatives.

The successful applicant must have proven presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a varied audience together with the ability to plan and co-ordinate projects. You should also be able to use your own initiative, have a flexible approach to working and have good customer care skills.  It is an essential role requirement that the post holder has a valid driving licence.

Appointment to this role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Clearance.

The post is conditioned to the Scheme of Conditions of Service for NJC Local Government Services (Green Book).  Benefits include a flexitime scheme, 24 days Full Time Equivalent (FTE) annual leave entitlement (29 days FTE after 5 years’ continuous service), Local Government Pension Scheme and optional additional benefits.

The successful applicant will be entitled to become a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
