CONGRATULATIONS to the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and North Yorkshire Police Men’s Health Network for raising over £3,000 and finishing seventh place in the York Rotary Dragon Boat races this weekend (Sunday, 9 July)

Team ‘It’s Good To Talk’ which was made up of NYFRS and NYP firefighters, officers and staff, were only 0.6 of a second off qualifying for the final, which isn’t bad on a first attempt!

Lead by Chief Constable Lisa Winward on the drum and Chief Fire Officer Jonathan Dyson on first oar, they won two out of their three races, putting in an impressive 1 minute 13 sec time on the second run of the day, beating Hull or High Water and Valhallaplan.

Not only did they look amazing in their pink and blue superhero capes, they’ve also, so far, raised an impressive £3,515 for two fantastic charities – Andy’s Man Club and Papyrus UK, with the overall event raising in excess of £85,000.

Well done to all involved and a very special thank you to Station Manager Mark Upton, Sgt Vicki Millington and Chief Inspector Mick Roffe for organising the event.
