Incident Summary Night Shift Wednesday 11th September

Location: Moor Lane, Ryther

Time: 18:31


Crews from Tadcaster station attended reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Toyota Aygo. A single female occupant in the vehicle was helped from the vehicle by crews after it left the road and ended at an angle in a ditch. She was checked over on scene by paramedics. Crews used a triple extension ladder, airbag cover and ratchet.

Fire crews from Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay attended reports of a wheelie bin on fire under a porch of a property which contained a ground floor and first floor flat. Fire spread to porch or property causing 100% fire damage to the bin and the porch. All residents were able to get out of the building and a female in her 70’s was checked over by paramedics after suffering smoke inhalation. Fire crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel, a thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and hand tools.

Fire crews from Harrogate & Knaresborough attended reports of a burning smell in a residential block of flats. Upon arrival fire crews in breathing apparatus broke through a door and led a male to safety from a flat after cooking had been left unattended in a microwave. The fire caused 100% fire damage to the food and slight heat damage to the microwave. Fire crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, door breaker and a thermal imaging camera to deal with the incident.


In addition crews from around the county have responded to reports of automatic fire alarms sounding, all of which have been false alarms.
