Incident Summary Night Shift Monday 11th  March 2019

Crews from around the county have attended a number of automatic fire alarms today. Thankfully all of these have been false alarms.

We have also attended a number of false alarms due to controlled burnings. Please remember if you’re having a control burn, ring the Fire Service on a non emergency number to let us know.

Northfield Lane, Church Fenton Time of call: 17:19

Fire crews from Tadcaster have been working overnight to extinguish approx. 100 tonnes of hay bales alight. Crews used pitch forks and hose reels to prevent further fire spread while letting it burn under supervision. Crews are due to revisit this later this morning.

Off Selby Road, Whitley Time of call: 17:32

Fire crews from Selby and Pontefract attended a property after smoke was seen coming from their boiler. The incident involved a small fire causing heat damage to the boiler. The fire was out upon our arrival so the crews inspected using small tools and gave advice to the occupiers.

Off Acomb Road, York time of call: 19:22

Crews from Acomb have attended reports of smoke within a residential property. On arrival crews found signs of smoke coming from a bathroom and on further investigation it was found that this was believed to be caused from candles being to close to a bath towel. Crews extinguished the fire using a bucket of water and ventilated the property.

A1M Northbound Scotch Corner Time of call: 04:08

Crews from Colburn, Richmond and assistance from our colleagues from Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service have responded to reports of a road traffic collision with possible persons trapped. Thankfully on arrival no persons were trapped in any vehicle and crews assisted police in making the scene safe before leaving it in their hands.
