Incident Summary – Night Shift – Friday 31st July 2020.

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Fire – Hornby

Time of call: 1138 hours

Crews from Richmond, Colburn, Northallerton, Leyburn & Masham have dealt with piles of felled trees, branch trimmings and scrub on fire. Crews used 3 light portable pumps, 4 main jets, 3 hosereels, pitchforks, beaters, an Argocat and local digger. The cause is believed to be accidental. The incident remains open for a revisit on Saturday.

 

Road traffic collision – Whitby Road, Cloughton

Time of call: 1726 hours

Crews from Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay have dealt with a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Rover estate. 1 elderly male occupant in the vehicle. Not physically trapped but unable to exit vehicle due to a hedge. Crew cut away hedge and left male in care of paramedics with minor chest injuries caused by the air bag. Crew used a DeWalt saw.

 

False alarm – Eggborough

Time of call: 1832 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to excessive heat.

 

River rescue – Linton

Time of call: 1944 hours

Crews from Grassington, Skipton and Lofthouse, along with a water rescue team from Ripon have been called to reports of a male in a river. Police and ambulance also attended.

 

House fire – off Station Road, Haxby

Time of call: 2014 hours

5 crews from Huntington, York and Acomb have dealt with a fire to a domestic property following a lightning strike. The end terraced property suffered extensive fire, heat and smoke damage to the whole building. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the incidents.

Crews used 10 breathing apparatus, 4 hosereel jets, various ladders, lighting, hand tools and thermal imaging cameras.

 

False alarm – Alne

Time of call: 2020 hours

A crew from Easingwold has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to weather conditions.

 

Rescue – Westborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 2039 hours

A crew from Scarborough has rescued an 8 year old boy from who was locked in a car park. Crew used small tools and child was unharmed.

 

Assist ambulance – off Green Lane, Whitby

Time of call: 2043 hours

A crew from Whitby has been called to assist paramedics access a male who had fallen behind a door. Crew used small tools to remove door and assisted with casualty handling.

 

False alarm – Hirstead Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2128 hours

A crew from Scarborough has investigated reports of a fire in the garden of a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning. Advice given.

 

False alarm – Gordale Lane, Malham

Time of call: 2139 hours

A crew rom Settle has been called to reports of a fire in woodland. This was a false alarm due to a campfire under supervision. Advice given and youths extinguished fire.

 

Small fire – Knavesmire Road, York

Time of call: 2145 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has been called to a bonfire in the open involving cut grass. Crew used 1 hosereel, a knapsack sprayer and a beater to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

False alarm – Abbey Lane, Whitby

Time of call: 2207 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

 

Oven fire – Ingleton

Time of call: 0005 hours

A crew from Bentham has been called to an oven on fire in a domestic property. This resulted in fire damage to oven only. Crew isolated the power supply and ventilated property using a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause is believed to be a water leak behind the oven.

 

Assist ambulance – off Yew Tree Lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 0149 hours

A crew from Harrogate has assisted paramedics to transfer a female casualty from the first floor of a domestic property to an ambulance. Scoop stretcher and crew power used.
