Incident Summary

3rd June 2020

Incident Summary –Night Shift 2ndJune, 2020 

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:  

 

 

Time: 17:39 

Location: Midlife Hill, Boltby 

 

Thirsk attended a fire at Midlife hill in the Boltby area. On arrival they found approximately 100 x 50 metres of forest on fire. Further crews from Northallerton, Helmsley and the water Bowser from Boroughbridge were sent to assist. Crews used 4 hose reel jets and 2 x 45 mm hose to extinguish the fire and dampen down. 

 

Time: 17:47 

Location: South Stainley 

 

Ripon attended reports of a fire in the South Stainley area. On arrival this was a bonfire under supervision but was in close proximity to surrounding trees and fencing. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to reduce the fire in size and left in the hands of occupier. 

 

Time: 17:49 

Location: A1 southbound carriageway 

 

Richmond responded to reports of a car on fire on the hard shoulder of the A1. On arrival this turned out to be a false alarm caused by a blown turbo on the car. 

 

Time: 18:20 

Location: Barton 

 

Richmond responded to a residential fire alarm activation in the Barton area. On arrival this was a false alarm caused by a broken fire alarm. Crews replaced the alarm prior to leaving. 

 

Time: 21:14 

Location: Settle 

 

Settle attended reports of a fire sighted on moorland on a roadside. On arrival this was a small fire that was extinguished by buckets of water. 

 

Time: 21:26 

Location: Nether Poppleton, York 

 

Acomb attended reports of a fire in a residential back garden. On arrival the fire was already out and required no action by the fire service. 

 

Time: 21:38 

Location: Haxby, York 

 

Acomb and Huntington attended reports of a large fire in a rear garden. This turned out to be an outbuilding on fire in a wooded area that had spread to surrounding woodland. Crews used 2 x 45mm jets to extinguish the fire. 

 

Time: 22:21 

Location: Cowthorpe 

 

Knaresborough responded to a fire sighted in the open in the Cowthorpe area. This turned out to be a controlled burn that was under supervision. 

 

Time: 22:25 

Location: Skipton 

 

Our Skipton crew responded to reports of a large fire in a field. On arrival this was a controlled burn under the supervision of the occupier. 

 

Time: 22:57 

Location: Pickering 

 

Our Pickering crew responded to reports of a large fire at the rear of a residential property in close proximity to fencing and trees. This turned out to be a false alarm and was a small bonfire in a rear garden under supervision.
