 Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 20th November 2020 

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

 

False alarm – York Road, Acomb 

Time of call: 2145 hours 

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes. 

 

False alarm – York Road, Acomb 

Time of call: 2204 hours 

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault from the previous incident. 

 

Small fire – off Huntington Road, York 

Time of call: 0040 hours 

A crew from York has extinguished leaves and kindling on fire near an underpass. Crew used bucket of water to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate. 

 

Property fire – Thorpe Willoughby 

Time if call: 0140 hours 

2 crews from Selby have been called to a fire at a domestic property. The fire started when hot embers were left in a garden brazier. Heat radiated onto an adjacent wooden bin store which spread to a garden fence, which in turn spread to the eaves of a domestic property. Fire, het and smoke damage to bin store, garden fence and roof void and timbers of property. Heat damage also caused to neighbours plastic facia boards. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereel jets, 2 thermal imaging cameras, lighting, ladders and a salvage sheet. The cause is believed to be careless use of a brazier. 

 

Property fire – Otley Road, Harrogate 

Time of call: 0236 hours 

2 crews from Harrogate and a crew from Knaresborough have been called to an oven fire in a domestic property. This resulted in fire, heat and smoke damage to a plastic toaster which had been placed inside an oven. 2 females (early 20’s) in the property at the time, received a precautionary check up from paramedics at the scene. Smoke detectors were fitted, activated and raised alarm. The cause is believed to be careless use of a heat source. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hosereel. 

 

False alarm – North Leas Avenue, Scarborough 

Time of call: 0636 hours 

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector.
