Incident summary day shift Saturday 1st August

ncident SummaryDay ShiftSaturday 1st August 2020. 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

 

 

False alarm- North street, Ripon 

Time of call: 08:24 

Crew from Ripon responded to an automated fire alarm at a residential property. This turned out to be a false alarm. The cause was unknown. 

 

Fire residential- Whitby 

Time of call: 08:35 

Crews from Whitby, Lythe and Robin hoods bay responded to reports of a fire in the kitchen of a local hotel. This was a deep fat fryer that had caught fire. Members of staff had managed to extinguish it before fire service arrival with the use of a wet chemical extinguisher and fire blankets.  

 

Fire vehicle- Tadcaster 

Time of call: 09:14 

Crew from Tadcaster responded to report of a van on fire. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by a blown engine giving off lots of black smoke. Crews used drizzit pads to soak up leaking fluid from the van. 

 

Fire Vehicle- Aiskew 

Time of call: 09:15 

Crew from Bedale and Masham responded to reports of a car on fire on Bedale road in Aiskew. On arrival the vehicle was well alight. Crews used 2 Breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire 

 

Persons trapped- Harrogate 

Time of call: 12:08 

Crew from Harrogate responded to a call involving a young child who had got his foot stuck between the pedals and the frame of his bicycle. On arrival crews were able to borrow a crank extractor from a neighboring property which allowed them to remove the crank and free the childs leg. 

 

Fire in open- Knaresborough 

Time of call: 15:33 

Crew from Knaresborough responded to reports of a bin fire under the viaduct in Knaresborough. On attending they found the bin well alight. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish. 

 

False alarm- Scarborough 

Time of call: 16:27 

Crew from Scarborough responded to an automated fire alarm at a residential property. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by an aerosol.  

 

False alarm- Barkston Ash 

Time of call: 16:28 

Tadcaster responded to an automated fire alarm in the Barkston ash area. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by a fault on the system.
