Incident Summary - Night Shift Monday 29th June 2020

Incident SummaryNight Shift - Monday,29th June  

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred: 

 

 

Time: 18:52 

Location: Hawnby, Helmsley 

 

Helmsley and Thirsk fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision. Upon arrival they found a car which had left the road and come to rest on the grass verge. The driver was out of the vehicle upon arrival so crews assisted police and paramedics at scene.  

 

Time: 19:10 

Location: Dacre, Summerbridge 

 

Summerbridge and our volunteer fire crew from Lofthouse attended reports of an electrical pylon on fire in a field. Northern Power Grid were already en route and we remained on scene until engineers arrived.

Location: Off Leeming Lane, Catterick 

 

Incident involved reports of smoke sighted in the area. Richmond and Colburn crews responded and this was found to be controlled burning under supervision. Crews gave advice and left the responsible person with the fire. 

 

Time: 20:49 

Location: Sneaton, Whitby 

 

Fire crews were called to reports of a horse stuck in a horse box. Crews responded from Whitby along with our specialist animal rescue crews based in Malton and Tadcaster. The incident involved a horse which had become stuck in a horse box due to the securing bar. A vet attended the scene and sedated the horse allowing fire crews to then cut the bar and release the horse into the care of its owners unharmed. Crews used a reciprocating saw, lighting and shields.

Location: York 

 

Our York crew responded to reports of a boat submerging in the River Ouse. The crews cut the moorings which had been done prior to the river level rising and retied the boat at a higher anchor point to solve the problem.

Location: River Ouse, Naburn 

 

Crews from Acomb, York, Selby and Ripon responded to reports of an unknown amount of canoeists out of their boats in the river. Our specially trained water rescue teams, including the volunteer York rescue boat arrived on the scene to locate and save the canoeists, however once located it was discovered that they were capsize training and did not require our assistance.

Location: Bismark Street, York 

 

Crew from Easingwold and Huntington responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding where smoke was sighted on the ground floor. This resulted in a false alarm with the cause being cooking fumes. 

 

Time: 23:42 

Location: Ulleskelf, Tadcaster 

 

Crews from Tadcaster responded to reports of a fire in a field containing cattle. The crews discovered one moped well alight and used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish with the cause believed to be deliberate.
