Incident Summary – Day Shift – Saturday 23rd March

Lofthouse

 

Time of call: 0859

 

An appliance from Ripon attended a chimney fire at a domestic property. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel, 9m ladder, roof ladder and working at height gear. The cause of the fire was due to an accumulation of soot.

 

 

 

Newby, Scarborough

 

Time of call: 1023

 

Crews from Scarborough attended a small fire in a living room of a domestic property. The fire caused damage to paper and a UPVC window. The fire was out on arrival and crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire was accidental.

 

 

 

Sleights, Whitby

 

Time of call: 1250

 

Whitby and Goathland attended a Mercedes car on fire, the car suffered 100% fire damage and spread to a small area of moorland. Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down the area. 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera were used at this incident. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

 

 

 

Whitby

 

Time of call: 1301

 

A crew from Robin Hoods Bay attended a campervan on fire, the campervan suffered 90% fire damage and is believed to be caused by an electrical fault. Crews used 2 hose reel jets, 2 breathing apparatus, thermal imaging camera and small tools at this incident.

 

 

 

Aiskew

 

Time of call: 1309

 

Bedale attended 8m of garden hedge on fire,  crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets and gave oxygen therapy to a female occupant who suffered smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is unknown.

 

 

 

Ousegate, Selby

 

Time of call: 1707

 

Selby attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential address, this was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes. No action taken by the fire service.
