Incident Summary – Night Shift – 15th May 2019

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

A1237 Chapel fields

Time of call: 17:39

A crew from Acomb were called to a road traffic collision. This was a minor collision which involved 5 cars. Crews assisted Police and Ambulance with scene safety.

East Park Road, Spofforth

Time of call 18:01

A crew from Tadcaster and Wetherby from West Yorkshire Fire attended a report of a fire inside a two storey property. This was a fire to a tumble dryer which was out on arrival.

Newhay lane, Selby

Time of call: 18:22

Crews from Selby with their swift water rescue appliance and Tadcaster along with their animal rescue appliance were called to a report of a calf stuck in a river. On arrival crews found the calf to be stuck deep within some mud on the embankment. Crews rescued the calf and returned it into the care of its owner.

B1257, Rievaulx

Time of call: 20:49

A crew from Helmsley were called to a report of a motorbike on fire, this was believed to have occurred accidentally. Crews extinguished this using a hose reel jet.

Briar Hill, Danby – time of call: 23:39

A crew from Lythe attended to an automatic fire alarm sounding. This was caused by a faulty paper shredder which was causing overheating and smoke. Crews removed the shredder outside and ventilated the property.

North Marine Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 02:43

A crew from Scarborough responded to an alarm activation in a domestic premises which was found to be a false alarm.

The Avenue, Haxby

Time of call 03:41

Huntington firecrew used a hosereel to extinguish a garden waste fire which spread to adjacent hedging.

River Foss, York

Time of call: 03:43

Crews from York and Acomb rescued a young male from the River Foss using a triple extension ladder, near Carmelite Street, after it was believed, that he fell in and was initially held on to by a friend, and then by a Police officer.

The male was checked over by paramedics at the scene and was transported to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

East Parade, Harrogate – time of call: 04:26

Harrogate crew responded to an alarm activation in a domestic premises which was believed to have activated due to a system fault. 

Ousegate, Selby – time of call: 04:41

Selby crew responded to an alarm activation in a domestic premises – the cause being a deliberate, malicious activation of a breakglass point.
