Incident Summary – Night Shift –10th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

New Earswick, York

Time of call: 1740

Huntington attended approx. 4 tonnes of lose hay on fire in a field. Crews used knapsack sprayers, thermal imaging camera and hand tools at this incident. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Firby Lane, Ripon

Time of call: 1852

2 appliances from Ripon were mobilised to reports of a derelict building on fire, on arrival crews found a pile of newspaper set alight within the building. Fire caused damage to the newspaper and waste carpet. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera at the incident.

A168, Dishforth

Time of call: 2023

Appliances from Ripon and Boroughbridge were mobilised to reports of a 2 vehicle RTC. On arrival crews confirmed all occupants were out of the vehicle and being treated by off duty private ambulances. Crews assisted with making the scene safe.

Great Smeaton

Time of call: 2126

Northallerton crew dealt with a Subaru Impreza car on fire, the fire cause 100% fire damage to the vehicle and was extinguished using 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

Reighton, Filey

Time of call: 2134

Filey assisted with gaining entry to a property where a male had collapsed and was unable to get up. Crews used a lock snapper to gain entry to the property and left the casualty in hands of a carer before paramedics arrived.


Time of call: 2231

Grassington were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open, this turned out to be controlled burning by a farmer who was in attendance, advice given.

Railway Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2339

Harrogate extinguished a skip on fire containing general waste. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident. The cause of the fire was due to disposed BBQ’s.


Time of call: 0012

Northallerton were mobilised to an unattended bonfire measuring 5m x 5m. Crews extinguished the fire using 1 hose reel jet.

A1M Scotch Corner

Time of call: 0039

Richmond attended an RTC between a car and a flatbed lorry. Driver of lorry was out on arrival and uninjured. 36 year old female driver of car was out on arrival and suffered pelvic injuries. Crews assisted paramedics with transporting patient onto stretcher and into an ambulance.

Automatic Fire Alarms

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service also attend a number of automatic fire alarms across the county by crews from Thirsk, Malton, Richmond, York, Selby, Harrogate and Huntington, these were all false alarms.
