Incident Summary – Night Shift – Friday 19th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Knavesmire Woods, York

Time of call: 1806

Acomb crew extinguished a small fire in a wooded area using knapsack sprayers, the cause of the fire was deliberate.


Time of call: 1827

Harrogate extinguished 5m x 5m of brash on fire in a wooded area. Crew used knapsack sprayers and small tools at this incident.


Time of call: 1834

Knareborough were mobilised to reports of a tree on fire. On arrival crews found the tree smouldering and extinguished it using 1 hose reel. The cause is believed to be due to a lightning strike.

A171, Cloughton

Time of call: 1840

Scarborough crew assisted with washing down a roadway following an RTC between a van and a car. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to swill away the fuel leak.

Brunswick Street, Whitby

Time of call: 1902

Whitby assisted with a burst water main causing flooding. Lengths of main hose were used to divert water away from residential and commercial properties and into drains. The crew cordoned off the street and handed the incident over to Highways Agency and Yorkshire Water.

A59, Broughton

Time of call: 1913

2 appliances from Skipton were mobilised to a 2 vehicle RTC between a van and a car, on arrival crews found nobody trapped or injured. No action was taken by the fire service.

French Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 2226

Harrogate and Knaresborough appliances were mobilised to reports of a kitchen fire, this turned out to be malicious call.


North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service also sent crews from York, Northallerton, Huntington, Skipton, Boroughbridge & Acomb to attend automatic fire alarms at various residential and commercial premises, all of these incidents were false alarms.
