Incident summary for Nightshift 15 September 2020

16th September 2020

Incident SummaryNight ShiftTuesday 15thSeptember2020. 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

Vehicle fire – Carlton 

Time of call: 1740  

Crews from Richmond, Colburn and Darlington attended a Tractor on fire in a field. The fire caused 100% damage to the vehicle and approx 30sqm of stubble. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault.  

Bin fire – Maple Grove, York 

Time of call: 1839 

York attended a fire involving a waste bin. Crews extinguished the fire using buckets of water. The cause of the fire was hot ashes from a discarded disposable BBQ. 

Controlled burning – Osbaldwick 

Time of call: 1902 

Crews from Huntington responded to reports of black smoke sighted. This turned out to be controlled burning under supervision, crews gave advice to the owners.  

Flooding in shop – Parliament Street, York 

Time of call: 1905 

York attended heavy flooding on the ground floor of a retail unit. Crews gained access to the building and isolated a leaking toilet on the first floor using small tools. The premises was then re-secured and left in the hands of Police.  

Minor RTCHunmanby  

Time of call: 1908 

Filey attended a minor RTC where a Ford fiesta had impacted a parked car. An elderly male drive was out of the vehicle when Fire Service arrived and being checked over as a precaution by Paramedics. Crews made the scene and vehicles safe.  

False alarm – Swainby 

Time of call: 1930 

Northallerton responded to a sighting of an unattended bonfire on moorland. Crews carried out a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate any signs of fire.  

Controlled burning – Denison Road, Selby 

Time of call: 1935 

Selby were mobilised to reports of an out of control garden fire. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning and gave advice to the home owners.  

False alarm –  Whitby 

Time of call: 2125 

Whitby were mobilised to a bonfire sighted on a Jetty close to the shipyard, on arrival crews confirmed this was a camp fire under supervision, crews gave advice to those on scene.  

Fire – Boroughbridge Road, York 

Time of call: 2206 

2 appliances from Acomb attended a fire in a launderette. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and 1 thermal imaging camera to locate and extinguish the fire. Crews then cleared the smoke from the building using a positive pressure ventilation fan. 

 Rubbish fire – Pannal 

Time of call: 1839 

Harrogate's Tactical Response Vehicle extinguished a small rubbish fire at the rear of a building site. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident. 

  

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service attended automatic fire alarms in Pickering,  Scarborough and Cross-Hills. All of these activations were false alarms.
