Incident Summary Night Shift Thursday 7th November 2019


In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round up we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages where incidents have occurred.


RTC – Knaresborough Road, Bishop Monkton

Time of call: 17:40 hours

Ripon appliances responded to a 2 car RTC. No persons trapped, though x3 elderly females in one of the cars given first aid by fire crews, then taken to hospital by ambulance as precaution only.


False alarm – Institute Street, Glusburn

Time of call: 17:52 hours

Skipton attended this false alarm in sheltered housing. Activation due to cooking fumes.


Cooker fire - Harrogate

Time of call: 18:17 hours

Harrogate crew responded to a cooker fire. Out on arrival. Cause – excess fat/grease. Crew ventilated premises.


False alarm – Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 18:54 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation with the cause for the activation being unknown.


False alarm – Patrick Brompton

Time of call: 19:52 hours

Leyburn responded to a fire sighted in the open which proved to be attended controlled burning.


Chimney fire – Thornton Watlass

Time of call: 21:30 hours

Masham crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguished a chimney fire with the cause being an accumulation of soot. Advice given.


False alarm – Scott Road, Selby

Time of call: 21:37 hours

Selby crew responded to an alarm activation . This was a false alarm due to a panel fault.


False alarm – Main Street, Barlby

Time of call: 21:56 hours

A crew from Selby responded to a report of smoke in the area which was found to be steam from a boiler.


Leeming Lane, Leeming Bar

Time of call: 22:20 hours

Northallerton crew secured loose metal sheeting which had become insecure due to windy weather.


False alarm – Snaygill Industrial Estate, Keithley Road, Skipton

Time of call: 02:49 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.


B6271, Brompton on Swale

Time of call: 03:06 hours

While on standby at Richmond, Northallerton crew responded to report from Police of a car on fire following a RTC. On arrival, fire crew discovered a large goods vehicle on fire with the cause being unknown. Hosereel, breathing apparatus and a light portable pump were used to extinguish the fire.
