Incident Summary – Thursday Dayshift, 15th August 2024

Time: 08:04   Location: Near Selby 

A crew from Selby responded to reports of a fire sighted in an agricultural field. After inspection, crews discovered this to be a burst irrigation pipe with no further action was required.

Time: 10:11   Location: Summerbridge

A crew from Harrogate responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision. All casualties were out prior to fire crews arrival but there was original reports of one of the vehicle smoking. Crews found no sign of fire but made the scene safe for police and ambulance crews who were administering treatment for two people. Crews disconnected the batteries using small tools and left the incident in the hands of police.

Time: 10:32   Location: Skipton

A crew from Skipton responded to a smoke alarm activation inside a residential property. On arrival, crews found no sign of smoke and completed an inspection to find the alarm activation was caused by a faulty smoke detector.

Time: 10:48   Location: Filey 

A crew from Filey responded to a straw baler that had caught fire. Crews used breathing apparatus equipment and a hose reel jet to fight the fire which was confined to the straw baler only. Crews also checked for further hotspots using a thermal imaging camera to check the fire was fully extinguished before leaving the scene.

Time: 11:57  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough removed a ring stuck on a persons finger by using small tools.

Time: 12:32  Location: Ripon

A crew from Ripon responded to garden waste on fire. after hot coals were placed on combustibles. Crews used pitchforks and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to the responsible person.

Time: 12:41  Location: York

A crew from York responded to a fire inside the flat of a three story residential building. This was caused by unattended cooking. All occupants were out prior to crews arrival and staff had extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher. Crews completed an inspection and gave advice.

Time: 13:17  Location: Northallerton

A crew from Northallerton responded to a fire on the side of the road which was threatening to spread to a nearby crop field. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and prevent further fire spread. This was believed to be caused by controlled burning which had been left unattended.

Time: 13:40  Location: Scarborough 

A crew from Scarborough responded to a pile of pallets which had accidentally set alight. Crews extinguished the fire using a main jet.

Time: 14:39  Location: Huntington

A crew from York responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision involving a HGV and car. On arrival crews found all occupants out on arrival and at the side of the road. Crews made the scene safe until the arrival of police.

Time: 15:03  Location: Richmond

A crew from Richmond were called to a dog which had fallen down a ledge. The owner was able to climb down to the dog safely but needed assistance from our crews to climb out using a 9 metre ladder. Both the owner and dog were left uninjured.

Time: 15:33  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to an automatic fire alarm inside a residential building. This was caused by a fault on the system and was confirmed a false alarm after an investigation from the fire crews. Advice was given to the responsible person.
