Incident Summary – Day Shift, Friday 26th July

Time: 13.48    Location:  Kirkby Lane, Kirkby in Cleveland

Crews from Northallerton and an appliance from Cleveland Fire Service were called to a property after reports of a fire inside a 1 storey house.  On arrival at the property, the fire which had been caused by a blow torch on a window frame, had been extinguished by neighbours.  A male contractor was taken to hospital with a serious cut to his arm caused by breaking the window whilst attempting to extinguish the fire.  The crews proceeded to remove the window frame using the reciprocal saw and small tools so they could check the wall cavity and ensure the fire had not spread.

 

Time:   15.47    Location:  Keighley Road, Laneshawbridge, Colne

We received multiple calls regarding a car alight on the A6068 between Colne and Keighley.  Crews from Colne and Skipton arrived on-scene to find the vehicle well alight.  The crews used breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and left the vehicle in the hands of police to arrange recovery.

 

Time:   15.51   Location: A169, High Marishes 

A HGV driver reported a fire to his vehicle that he had parked and vacated in a lay-by on the side of the A169. The Crew from Malton station were mobilised to the scene and found the fire had been extinguished prior to their arrival.  The crew removed the exhaust pan to check for and hotspots using a thermal imaging camera and damage was confined to the exhaust area.

In addition, crews attended multiple automatic fire alarm activations that were found to be false alarms.
