Incident Summary – Day Shift – 25th July 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages where incidents have occurred.

Time: 07:21  Location: Tang Hall, York

Crews from York were called to assist Ambulance with gaining entry into a property. Once inside, it was discovered that the occupant wasn’t there. The incident was left with ambulance crews.

Time: 11:28  Location: Osbaldwick, York

York and Acomb crews responded to a call from a driver whose car had impacted a residential property. Fortunately, all occupants of the vehicle were out upon arrival of the Fire Service with no obvious injuries. Crews proceeded to assess the scene and made the vehicle safe before leaving the incident with Police who were arranging vehicle recovery.

Time: 13:31  Location: Fox Lane, Hambleton

A crew from Selby responded to a call from a member of public who had spotted a grass verge on fire. The fire covered a length of approximately 30metres, with crews using a hose reel jet and beaters to extinguish it. The cause was believed to be a dropped light.

Time: 14:48  Location: off Usher Lane, Haxby

Huntington crew responded to a call from a resident who had concerns that a fire from a neighbouring garden was spreading to their fence. The fire was out when the crews arrived, although they remained on scene to dampen down a fence post.

Time: 15:08  Location: near Sutton-on-the-Forest

Crews from York responded to reports of a fire to a silo containing saw dust. The fire was out on arrival of the crew. Crews stayed on scene to give advice to the responsible person.

Time: 15:32  Location: Broadway, York

Acomb crews responded to a request from Ambulance to assist with a single vehicle collision involving a hybrid. Crews made the scene and vehicle safe, and left the casualty in the care of paramedics.

Time: 16:08  Location: Leeds Road, Selby

Crews from Selby and Acomb attended a two vehicle road traffic collision involving an electric vehicle. Ambulance were on scene and requested help with extricating the driver of the electric vehicle. Crews helped to lift the driver from the car who was then taken to hospital via road ambulance.

In addition, crews from York and Tadcaster also responded to various automatic fire alarms throughout the day that were activated due to testing.
