Incident summary – 24 July, 2024 – Night shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time:  19:48  Location:  Scarcroft Road, York

York crew responded to a pile of cut grass which had been placed on a table tennis table in a park and set alight by youths. Smouldering grass was out on their arrival. Inspection only.

Time:  19:59  Location:  Thorp Arch

Tadcaster fire crew were requested by our West Yorkshire colleagues to accompany their Wetherby appliance and assist with a fire in a premises. Fire was out on arrival, no action required.

21:57 – Field off, Wistow Road, Selby

Crews from Selby responded to reports of a fire seen in the field. This resulted in a wheelie bin well alight and was extinguished by crews using knapsack sprayers. The cause was deliberate.

00:18 – Strensall Drive, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough extinguished a small fire left unattended in a garden. Crews used one hose reel jet.

01:20 – Meadowfields, Whitby

Crews from Whitby assisted paramedics on scene to gain entry into a residential property for casualty care using a triple extension ladder. The occupant was left in care of the ambulance service.

There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: Killinghall, Knaresborough, Topcliffe, Northallerton, Harrogate and Malton .   All proved false alarms.
