Incident Summary – Monday Nightshift, 1st July 2024

Time: 17:27   Location: Near Stockwell Road, Knaresborough

Crews from Knaresborough responded to a fire within the kitchen of a 2 story terraced property. This was caused by a plastic container left on the hob.  The fire was out prior to crews arrival, and crews ventilated the property naturally. Crews completed a home fire safety visit and also gave fire safety advice to neighbouring properties.

Time: 18:14  Location: Near A59, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate gained entry to property to assist a family member stuck outside of house.

Time: 18:51  Location: Cold Bath Road, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to a residential building to release an occupant trapped inside a lift. Crews used a lift key only.

Time: 18:52  Location:Pickering Road, West Ayton

A crew from Scarborough responded to an activated carbon monoxide alarm due to concerns of occupants family member. Control staff gave advice to caller about ventilating the property. Crews attended and liaised with carers to carry out inspection of property. There was no sign of a gas leak and crews replaced the batteries to the carbon monoxide alarm. Advice given to occupant and occupant was left in care of carer.

Time: 19:34  Location: Foxwood Lane, Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to an activated fire alarm in inside a domestic property. Crews found no sign of fire and carried out inspection. This was confirmed as a false alarm.

Time: 20:10  Location: Leeming

A crew from Bedale responded to a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm.

Time: 20:14  Location: Giggleswick

A crew from Bentham responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm.

Time: 20:33 Location: Sutton in Craven

A crew from Skipton responded to reports of an electric pole on fire.

Time: 20:37  Location: Cayton, Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough responded to a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist  with the extrication of a patient from their property to the awaiting road ambulance. Crews assisted paramedics, before the male was taken to hospital via road ambulance.

Time: 23:24  Location: Near Osbaldwick Village, York

A crew from York responded to a large fire of rubbish near a residential area. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. Crews gave fire safety advice to residents.

Time: 00:07  Location: Turker Lane, Northallerton

Both crews from Northallerton responded to smoke inside a residential property. The occupant was advised to wait outside of the property and await the arrival of crews. Crews found no sign of fire and inspected the property using a thermal imagine camera. The cause of the smoke was from an overheated washing machine. Crews removed the damaged appliance from the property and gave advice to the occupant. A home fire safety visit has been arranged to take place during daylight hours.

Time: 01:06  Location: Near A61, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to gain entry to a domestic property so that Ambulance crews could assist the occupant inside. Crews used a 9 metre ladder and triple exterior ladder to notify the occupant of their presence so that they would open the door to the property.  Crews stood by while paramedics completed their assessments. The occupant declined any further assistance from ambulance crews and fire crews have arranged to revisit property to complete a home fire safety visit at a later date.

A crew from Selby responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm.

Time: 04:22  Location: Sherburn in Elmet

Crews from Tadcaster along with an Arial Ladder Platform from Leeds responded to reports of a fire in the office of a commercial garage. This was a single story commercial building. This incident is currently ongoing.

Time: 05:44 Location: Leeds Road, Pannal

A crew from Harrogate responded to reports of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm.
