Incident Summary – Tuesday Dayshift, 25th June 2024

Time:  07:24  Location: Near Heworth Green, York 

A crew from York responded to a two vehicle road traffic collision where one vehicle hit a stationary vehicle. On arrival, crews found no persons trapped. Crews provided scene safety until incident was handed over to police.

Time: 11:19   Location: Murray Street, Filey

A crew from Filey responded to a vehicle which had impacted a commercial building. Crews assisted police with the removal of the vehicle from the building using crew power. Advice was given to responsible person to seek advice from structural engineer.

Time: 11:33   Location: Hunmanby, Filey

A crew from Filey responded to smoke sighted in the garden of a domestic property. Crews found this to be controlled burning which was under supervision of a responsible person. Advice given only.

Time: 12:09   Location: Eastborough, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby  alongside Scarborough’s Arial Ladder Appliance responded to a fire inside a commercial building. The shop owner had isolated electrics and applied a fire blanket to suffocate the fire prior to crews arrival. One team of firefighters entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to start attacking the fire and isolate gas whilst other teams entered neighbouring properties attached to building encase of fire spread and smoke logging. All persons were accounted for and a total of six breathing apparatus wearers and three hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear residual smoke from inside the premises after the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire is still to be determined. Crews will revisit the premises at a later date to complete a post incident engagement. Crews also used a triple exterior ladder and thermal imaging camera.

Time: 15:35   Location: Malton Fire Station

A member of the public visited the fire station to have a ring removed from their finger which had become stuck. Crews used a ring cutter only.

Time: 16:13   Location: Lowther Street, York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to a phone which had started to smoke inside a domestic flat. The small fire was out prior to crews arrival. Crews made the property safe and ventilated the property of light smoke logging.

Time: 16:49   Location: A64, Malton

Crews from Malton and York are currently at the scene of a four vehicle road traffic collision. All persons are accounted for. Crews are in the process of making the scene safe.

 

A crew from York, Ripon and Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm inside a residential building. This was confirmed a false alarm.
