Incident Summary – Night Shift Sunday 23rd June 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

17:12 – Heworth Road, York

Incident involved a 63yr old female who had fallen down some cellar steps. Crew from York worked with ambulance staff to extricate the female and carry her to awaiting ambulance where she was transported to hospital for further treatment.

17:19 – Leathley, near Pool in Wharfdale

Fire crews from Harrogate and Cookridge attended a large bonfire measuring approx 10m x5m at the rear of farm buildings. Containing general farm waste but left unattended resulted in fire crews extinguishing the fire using 4 breathing apparatus for comfort and 1 hose reel jet.

18:11 – Love Lane, Aiskew, Bedale

A member of the public contacted fire control to report a fire in the open down a lane. The Bedale crew attended to find a fire to hedgerow measuring approx 2m x 1m the crew extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera.

22:07 Willlow Bank, New Earswick

Crew from York attended a small fire in the opne. They extinguished it using multiple buckets of water.

22:52 Stokesley

Crew from Stokesley assisted ambulance crews with the difficult extrication of a casualty. Crew power and scoop stretcher used to lift patient from property to ambulance.

02:58 Skipton

Crew from Skipton attended a property where an occupant had become locked in a bedroom. Crew power only used to force open the door and release occupant.

04:51 Garten Close, Knaresborough

Crew from Harrogate and Knaresborough responded to a portion of garden fencing and bins on fire. 1 hose reel jet used to extinguish. The believed cause of this fire was embers from a BBQ.

 

During the night crews from Scarborough, York and Colburn attended automatic fire alarm activations. These resulted in false alarms.
