Incident Summary – Night shift, Wednesday 19th June

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

Time: 17:06   Location: Ellerbeck, Northallerton

Crews from Northallerton and Thirsk were mobilised to assist in reports of a 3 vehicle road traffic collision involving a Mitsubishi pick-up, a Fiat van and a Tesla. All occupants were out of the vehicles upon the fire service arrival. 1 female occupant of Mitsubishi sustained a neck and shoulder injury and crews applied a collar until arrival of ambulance when she was assessed on scene. Crew monitored and checked the Tesla battery and moved this down a track and the tow other vehicle were moved from the road. Crews used a neck collar, thermal imaging camera and torch.

Time: 20:08   Location: Near Aldi, Jenneyfields, Harrogate

One of our Harrogate crews attended the area after a report of a fire in woodland area. Upon arrival this was found to be a camp fire under supervision by a male. the situation was assessed by the crew who were happy for the controlled burn to continue and gave the male advice.

Time: 20:58   Location: Near Skate Park, Selby

Selby crew attended the area after a report of a fire affecting a tree and undergrowth. The crew found smoldering to undergrowth and extinguished it using 1 hose reel. The cause is thought to have been deliberate.

Time: 22:01  Location: West Bank Park, York

Our Acomb crew attended the park after a couple contacted fire control to inform us they had been locked in the park and were unable to get out. The crew were able to access the park to release the couple and re-secure the gates using small tools

Time: 22:25  Location: Barrowcliff area, Scarborough 

A Scarborough crew assisted our colleagues in the ambulance service after they were requested to attend a property to help extricate a female casualty into an awaiting ambulance. The crew used a casualty handling sheet and crew power.

Time: 22:32  Location: Main Street, Middleton

Kirkbymoorside crew attended a property after a report was received of a large fire in the open. Upon arrival and investigation they found this to be a controlled burn in a field or general garden waste. the fire measured approx 3m x 3m and was under supervision by the owner of the field. advice was given and the controlled burn allowed to continue.

Time: 22:49  Location: Off, Skipton Road, Harrogate

One of the Harrogate crew were mobilised to attend reports of teenagers seen lighting fire in a field. Upon arrival of location given crews investigated and were unable to find any evidence of a fire.

Time: 01:37   Location: Pickering

Crews attended and extinguished a vehicle fire, following multiple reports of a small van well alight. Police also attended the incident. Fire and rescue crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Vehicle completely destroyed by fire. Incident left with Police.

 

In addition to the above, crews from Acomb and York have attended automatic fire alarm activations. On arrival and following investigation, all were confirmed to be false alarms.
