Incident summary for Night shift – 13 June, 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Fisher Row, Masham  19:32

Bedale fire crew used ladders and a hose reel to extinguish a chimney fire from the top. Cause – accumulation of soot with advice given to have chimney swept. Thermal camera also used to check the flue on the upper floor and in loft.

Staynor Avenue, Selby  20:09

Selby fire crew used a hose reel to extinguish a hedgerow which had been set alight deliberately by children.

Holbeck Hill, Scarborough  00:01

Crew from Scarborough responded to reports of a bin on fire. Crew used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish.

Yorkersgate, Malton  01:18

Crews from Malton responded to reports of a smashed window in a retail premises with smoke billowing out. On arrival of crews this was found to be a security cloaking system that had activated when a window was smashed. Crews assisted by ventilating using a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.

There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: York, Harrogate, Masham, Settle and Sherburn in Elmet. All proved false alarms.
