Incident summary for Day shift 4th June, 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

10:33  Thornton-le-Dale

A crew from Malton responded to a fire on the moors, seen from a distance. On arrival this was found to be attended controlled burning.

10:44  Islebeck

Thirsk and Ripon crews responded to a JCB excavator which was well alight. A hose reel jet, ground monitor, breathing appartus, thermal imaging camera and a light portable pump utilising a nearby river, was used to extinguish the fire which caused significant damage to the JCB. Cause of ignition believed to be due to overheating.

11:23  Pickering

A crew from Malton responded to a call from a motorist stating they could see smoke in the area. Following a full search of local area, no smoke sighted.

14:25  Queens Road, Richmond

A crew from Richmond responded to a report of a person stuck in a lift with no ETA available for the lift engineer requested by the premises.

There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: Castleton, Scarborough x2 and York x4.  All proved to be false alarms.
