Incident Summary – Tuesday Nightshift, 21st May 2024

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

 

Time:  17:42     Location: Dringhouses, York

A crew from Acomb responded to an activated smoke alarm inside a domestic property. This was caused by cooking fumes and was a false alarm. Crews gave advice to occupant.

Time:  20:52     Location: Heslington

A crew from York responded to reports of a fire in a built up area. On arrival crew confirmed this was a controlled burn in a domestic garden. Crews advised the occupier to extinguish the fire due to excessive smoke.

Time: 22:13      Location: Shipton, Near York

A crew from Acomb responded to an activated fire alarm inside a commercial building. Crews carried out a full investigation using a thermal imaging camera and triple exterior ladder but found no sign of fire. This was a false alarm.

Time: 00:37      Location: A168, Near Thirsk

A crew from Thirsk responded to a driver who had lost control of their vehicle and struck a lamppost. It was believed the vehicle had started to smoke but on arrival crews found no sign of fire. Crews isolated the battery using small tools only to make the scene safe for police.

Time: 01:37      Location: Ripon Road, Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to an activated fire alarm in a commercial building. Crews carried out a full investigation and found no sign of fire. This was a false alarm.

Time: 06:06     Location: Wrea Lane, Scarborough

Scarborough and Filey crews responded to reports of smoke sighted coming from an industrial property. On arrival crew confirmed the building was smoke logged. Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the premises. **crews still at incident, further details will follow on next bulletin

Time: 06:22      Location: Sandsend, Whitby

Whitby crews attended a single vehicle road traffic collision. Vehicle had impacted a gas main. No persons trapped. Crews made scene safe, using putty to stem gas leak. Northern Gas were requested to attend.
