Incident Summary – Day shift, Friday 26th April

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred. 

 

Time: 08:46     Location: A1 Northbound. Leeming area

Crews from Ripon, Richmond and Northallerton attended the A1 following various reports of a vehicle fire. Crews extinguished a fire involving a car. No persons involved in fire, driver out on arrival of emergency services. Crews extinguished the fire using hose reel jets, then carried out checks using a thermal image camera. Vehicle completely fire damaged. Incident left with Police and Highways.

 

Time: 09:52     Location: Avenue Close, Harrogate

Fire crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough and West Yorkshire were called following numerous reports of a house fire. Crews worked with hose reel jets and an aerial ladder platform to fight the fire and stop it spreading further. Traffic management was put in place by North Yorkshire Police, and motorists and pedestrians were asked to avoid the area. Crews remained at the scene for some time, damping down.

 

Time: 11:11     Location: Draughton

Both crews from Skipton, along with a local officer attended a single vehicle road traffic collision with one person trapped inside. Crews worked with e-draulic cutting equipment to remove part of the vehicle, allowing access to casualty inside. Crews assisted in removing the casualty from the vehicle and handed over to paramedics on scene. Female casualty then taken to hospital via air ambulance. Fire and rescue crews made the scene safe before handing over incident to Police to arrange recovery of vehicle.

 

Time: 12:19     Location: Nether Poppleton

Crew attended the area following a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision. On arrival, Police confirmed no fire and rescue service attendance required. No action, incident left with Police.

 

Time: 14:55     Location: Royal Albert Drive, Scarborough

Scarborough crews assisted following a report from Police of a dog stuck on rocks. Crew power used to rescue the dog from rock armor boulders close to seafront. Dog left in care of owner.

 

Time: 15:59     Location: A168, Northbound, Thirsk area

Thirsk, Ripon and Northallerton attended and extinguished a fire to a heavy goods vehicle. Crews found the cab area well alight and extinguished using a hose reel jet. Crews remained in attendance for approximately 30 mins, damping down.

 

 

In addition to the above, crews from Harrogate, Northallerton and York have attended automatic fire alarm activations. On arrival and following investigations, crews confirmed all of these activations to be false alarms.
