Incident Summary – 21st April 2024 Night Shift
Boroughbridge – Time of call: 1735
A crew from Ripon responded to a female who had fallen in her property and left the gas cooker on. On arrival crews confirmed female was in the care of paramedics. Gas cooker was isolated and the property ventilated.
Eastfield, Scarborough – Time of call: 1753
An appliance from Scarborough along with the Argocat (off road vehicle) from Kirkbymoorside attended a gorse fire. Crews used backpack sprayers and high pressure lances to extinguish 2 separate seats of fire measuring a total of 31sqm. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
A170, Thirsk – Time of call: 1857
Thirsk attended a single vehcile RTC where a Honda Civic had overturned. all 3 occupants were out of the vehicle on arrival and being treated by paramedics for minor injuries. Crews made the scene and vehicle safe using small tools and left in the incident in the hands of North Yorkshire Police.
Queens Road, Richmond – Time of call: 1912
Richmond extinguished a small pile of rubbish set alight withing a brick outbuilding. Crews used buckets of water to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area. The cause of the fire was deliberate.
Catterick Garrison – Time of call: 1945
Richmond extinguished a fire in a playpark measuring 3m x 3m. Crews used a 45mm main jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area. The cause of the fire was deliberate.
Scarborough Road, Norton – Time of call: 2103
Malton responded to reports of smoke sighted behind a set of buildings. After an investigation this was found to be a false alarm caused by controlled burning. Crews gave advice to responsible persons.
Skipton Road, Harrogate – Time of call: 2104
Harrogate responded to reports of fire sighted in a field. On arrival crews confirmed this was a small campfire. Crews extinguished the fire and gave advice to those in attendance.
Colescliffe Road, Scarborough – Time of call: 2159
An appliance from Scarborough responded to reports of fire sighted in a garden. On arrival crews confirmed this was controlled burning left unattended. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area.
Marine Drive, Scarborough – Time of call: 2340
Scarborough attended a waste paper bin well alight. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area. The cause of the fire was unknown.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service responded to a number of automatic fire alarms in York, Staxton and Whitby. All of these activations were false alarms.
