Fireworks Display Raises Record Amount for The Fire Fighters Charity

 

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported the charity bonfire and firework display at Rawcliffe Country Park on Saturday.

The event helps raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity which is vital in supporting serving and retired fire and rescue staff, and their families, in a range of ways.

The Fire Fighters Charity like many others, is reliant upon financial donations, and we are pleased to announce that this year’s firework display and bonfire was the most successful fundraising event ever for us in North Yorkshire, with over £60,000 raised.

Chief Fire Officer Jon Foster said: “I’m delighted with the level of public support for the firework display, and the staggering amount which was raised for The Fire Fighters Charity. This will make such a difference to them and the work that they do. After a two-year absence for this event it was great to see so many people come along to support and enjoy it.

“We received lots of positive feedback on the night which was great to hear.

“However, as with all events there’s some things that we learnt on the night that we can improve upon for next year to make it even better. Due to the extraordinary large numbers of ticket sales this year, we are aware that car parking, ticket monitoring and access into the event did create some difficulties. The organisers will now start to consider how these areas can be improved for next time.

“Finally, the event is organised and run by a small team of dedicated volunteers, and I would like to say a personal thanks to Watch Manager Peter Barrett, Terence Gregg, Bruce Reid, and in addition to everyone else who volunteered to help organise and run this great event.”
