Fire on Avenue Close in Harrogate

11:30 update

Fire crews were called at around 9:50 this morning to reports of a house fire on Avenue Close in Harrogate.

Crews have been working to fight the fire and stop it spreading to a second property.

Traffic management has been put in place by North Yorkshire Police, and motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.

Crews remain at the scene damping down. They are likely to be in attendance for some time.

12 noon update:

The aerial ladder platform is being used to check for hotspots within the roof timbers.

Crews are also continuing to damp down a garage which has been involved in the fire.

12:15 Update

The incident is now being scaled down.

The remaining crews continue to damp down at the scene.
