Crucial Crew

Crucial Crew is a multi-agency event organised, through schools, by the police and supported by the fire service.

They aim to raise awareness of safety issues to school children in Year 6 (aged 10-11).

The event take the form of a range of 20minute interactive scenarios which cover a wide range of topics, each educating the students in a specific risk.

In the fire service scenario the children have a ‘hands on’ experience in what to do if they discover a fire in the home and how to make an emergency call.

Other scenarios include:

  • Water Safety
  • Heathy Child Team
  • Internet Safety
  • IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services)
  • Drugs and Alcohol Awareness
  • Anti-social Behaviour

Crucial Crew runs in various locations across the county and each school will receive an invite from the police asking if they wish to book onto one of the day sessions.

Dates for the 2019 Crucial Crew events are:

  • Craven 25th March to 5th April
  • Scarborough 3rd June to 14th June
  • Harrogate 24th June to 5th July
  • York 8th July to 19th July
