Farm Fire Safety

Farm fires can be devastating and good fire safety management could save your life and livelihood. The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005 is the fire safety legislation that applies to all farm buildings where people work, including packing sheds, milking parlours and barns.

Diversification into areas such as hospitality, retail or holiday accommodation

The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005 also applies to those that have diversified into other types of commercial businesses such as holiday lets and farmhouses used for providing bed and breakfast, cafes, farm shops, camping and caravan sites, glamping, wedding or party venues, workshops or factory units.

Notification and Marking of Sites (NAMOS)

The NAMOS Regulations require the person in control of any site or premises where a total quantity of 25 tons or more of dangerous substances, or 150 tonnes or more of ‘relevant ammonium nitrate mixtures’ are used or stored, or are to become used or stored, to give written notification to both the Fire & Rescue Service and the Health and Safety Executive.
