Incident Summary – Thursday Nightshift, 12th September, 2024

Time: 17:59  Location: Near Stokesley

Both Northallerton crews and an appliance from our colleges in Cleveland Fire Brigade responded to reports of a lorry smoking at the side of the road. On arrival, crews found this to be smoke from some cooking at the rear of the lorry. Advice was given to the lorry driver.

Time: 19:05  Location: Near Huntington

Acomb fire crew responded to a call about a fire which had been started in a wooded area by youths. One small fire which had been extinguished found by the crew.

Time: 22:07  Location: York

Crews from York and Acomb responded to the smell of burning from outside a flat. Crews were able to gain a visual inside the flat by pitching the triple exterior ladder from outside to the open window. No occupants or signs of fire were present in flat after a thermal inspection was completed using a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the smoke alarm activation was believed to had been a faulty detector head.

Time: 23:56  Location: Harrogate

A crew from Harrogate responded to fire sighted in a field. Crews attended to find 2 hay bales in close proximity to trees alight and left unattended. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and spread out the hay bales to extinguish them quicker using pitch forks.

Time: 01:13  Location: Scarborough

A crew from Scarborough assisted ambulance with gaining entry to a property to complete a welfare check. Crews gained entry to the property using a gain kit and the casualty was left in the care of paramedics.

 

Crews from Harrogate, Scarborough, Skipton and Hornby also responded to activated fire alarms inside residential and commercial building. These were all confirmed false alarms.
