Incident summary for 31 August, 2024 – Night shift

Time: 17:44   Location: York

York and Acomb fire crews responded to a stack of hay of approx 4x4m on fire in allotments. Hose reel and pitchforks used with a revisit scheduled for the morning.

Time: 18:37   Location: Kellington

Selby fire crew responded to a small fire in a wooded area. On arrival, the fire had been extinguished by a member of the public. Fire crew piled soil on to smother the area. Fire had been to some rubbish which had been set alight by youths.

Time: 20:52   Location: Osmotherly

Northallerton crew responded to a report of a campfire in a wooded area and therefore an unsuitable location. Campfire was extinguished and advice given to campers.

Time: 22:11   Location: Alcuin Avenue, York

York crew extinguished a rubbish fire started deliberately by youths near the football pitches.

Time: 22:16   Location: Barlby

At request of Ambulance, Selby fire crew used crew power to move a male casualty from upstairs in a premises down to ground floor and then to an ambulance for transport to hospital.

Tadcaster crew assisted an elderly female with poor mobility into her bed.

Time: 00:51   Location: Blue Bank car park, Sleights

Police requested Whitby fire crew to deal with a fire believed set by youths. One campfire of approx 1x1m extinguished with a hose reel.

Time: 04:18  Location: Trafalgar Square, Scarborough

Crew were mobilised to a report of smoke logging to a property due to a pan left on a hob. Crews cleared smoke using PPV fan.

Time: 05:29  Location: Merchants Place, York

Crew were requested to assist Police to get a person who had fallen back up from the River Foss. Crews used a triple extension ladder.

 

There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: Filey.   All proved false alarms.
