Incident summary – Night shift Tuesday 13th August
17:04 West Heslerton
Malton and Scarborough crews attended a combine harvester on fire. Crew worked with the farmer using hose reels and pitchforks to extinguish the fire.
17:57 Staithes
Whitby attended a car fire on a public roadway. On arrival fire had gone out. Crews made the vehicle safe.
18:04 York
York and Acomb attended an oven fire in a domestic property and confirmed there had been a fire to the grill pan but it was out on arrival. Crews ventilated the property and carried out a fire safety check.
18:07 Scarborough
Scarborough crews extinguished a compost heap on fire in a domestic garden using a hose reel.
18:22 Stockton on the Forest
Acomb crews assisted Ambulance crews at a road traffic collision involving 2 cars and a bike. No persons were trapped. Crews made scene safe.
18:27 Acomb
Acomb crews attended a a small bin fire and extinguished it using buckets of water.
19:55 Goathland
Goathland and Whitby crews responded to reports of a fire sighted on the moors. On arrival this was confirmed as a controlled burn under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person.
20:27 York
York crew attended a motorcycle set alight deliberately in a children’s play park. Crew extinguished the fire using a hose reel. Incident was left in the hands of Police.
20:47 Acomb
Acomb crew extinguished a pile of grass cuttings set alight by youths. Knapsack sprayers used.
21:31 Acomb
Acomb attended a second pile of grass cuttings on fire and on arrival confirmed two separate fires. The cause of the fires are believed to be deliberate. Hose reel used.
22:35 Harrogate
Crews investigated reports of a fire sighted in the open. On arrival crew confirmed this was a disposable BBQ under good supervision. Fire service intervention not required.
23:52 Barlby
Selby crew assisted two persons locked inside their flat.
In addition to the above incidents automatic fire alarms activated in Selby, Harrogate, Acomb, Skipton … All were investigated and confirmed as false alarms.
