Incident summary – 23 July, 2024 – Night shift

Time:  18:12  Location:  Langbourne Road, Whitby

Whitby fire crew used a hose reel to extinguish a bin.

Time:  18:25  Location:  Reeth

Leyburn fire crew gained entry to a domestic premises for a 65 year old male who had fallen behind a door within. Casualty was then carried to ambulance for transportation to hospital. Leyburn crew then re-secured the premises.

Time:  18:26  Location:  Ouseburn Avenue, York

Acomb fire crew responded to a fire in a rear garden. False alarm good intent as it was an attended controlled burn. Advice given.

Time: 18:45  Location: White Leys Road, Whitby

Crew from Whitby used a hose reel to extinguish a fire on a playing field. Cause – deliberate by youths. Police investigating.

Time: 22:05  Location: Garriston

Leyburn crew investigated smoke seen in the area which was found to be a controlled burning of timber.

Time: 22:16  Location: Topcliffe

Thirsk crew used a casualty sheet and crew power to assist paramedics in helping a male from the floor inside his premises and into their care.

Time: 22:17  Location: near Hospital Field Road

York crew extinguished a bin fire after a carelessly discarded disposal BBQ had set it alight.

Time: 22:21  Location: Cawood Bridge

Selby and Tadcaster crews assisted Police.

Time: 22:25  Location: Reeth Road, Richmond

Crews from Richmond, Colburn, Harrogate, Leyburn, Reeth, Bedale, Northallerton, Boroughbridge, Acomb and Thirsk, responded to a large detached 2 storey farmhouse on fire. No persons were in the house at the time. Property suffered extensive fire damage and there is likely to be Fire service in attendance until later today. Fire investigation will commence later this morning.

Time: 23:21  Location: Elm Court, Northallerton

Crew from Stokesley used a hose reel to extinguish a bed on fire in a garden.

Time: 04:48  Location: Harrogate

Crew from Harrogate responded to a call from a bedridden female occupant who had trapped her foot in her bed and stated that there were no others persons she could contact. Access gained an elderly female occupant made comfortable.

There were also fire alarm activations responded to in: Skipton, Selby, Great Busby, Shipton by Beningbrough, Malton and York x3.   All proved false alarms, mostly due to cooking fumes and insects in detectors.
