Incident Summary – Day Shift, Monday 22nd July

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Time:  08.50  Location:  Moor Lane, Scarborough

Crew from Scarborough attended an automatic alarm at a residential property, this was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Time:  10.07   Location: Romanby, Northallerton

Crew from Northallerton were called to assist Ambulance with extricating a male from a residential property. Crews assisted Ambulance in lifting male onto stretcher using crew power.

Time:  13.14  Location:  York Fire Station

Crews aided a member of the public who walked into station requiring the removal of a ring. Crews removed using ring cutters.

Time:  13.30  Location:  Knavesmire, York

Crews from York were called to a Fork Lift containing a gas cylinder that was smoking. No fire to fork lift, crews inspected using thermal imaging camera. The smoke was found to be coming from the exhaust system and recommended a mechanic was called.

Time:  13.42  Location:  North Stainley

Crews from Harrogate and Ripon attended a commercial premises due to reports of a grill on fire.  Upon arrival the fire was already extinguished.  Crews isolated and removed grill to open air.  Fire damage confined to grill only and the cause is believed to be due to a build up of oil.

Time: 14.34   Location: A1, Southbound Carriageway, Dishforth 

Crews from Ripon, Northallerton, Knaresborough and Tadcaster were called to a Gas Tanker on the Southbound Carriageway of the  A1 that had smoke coming from the rear axel.  The cause of the smoke was found to be overheated brakes, these were cooled using the hose reel jet and checked with the Thermal Image Camera.

Time: 15.30   Location:  Prospect Road, Scarborough

The Crew from Scarborough were called to help extricate a 15 week old Cocker Spaniel puppy who had got its head stuck in a glass TV Cabinet.  The crew used small tools to release the puppy into the safe hands of the owner.

Time: 15.58  Location:  York Place, Harrogate

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough responded to reports of smoke seen coming from a ventilation vent of a residential premises.  On entering the property crews found a fire confined to a paint tray found on the oven.  Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Time: 16.08   Location:  Church Street, York

Crews from Acomb and York were mobilised after reports of an alarm sounding and the smell of smoke.  On arrival the crews inspected the property and confirmed there was no fire but found there was a faulty manual call point.

Time: 16.51   Location:  Filey Road, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough responded to a report there was a double decker bus that was smoking.  Upon inspection the crew found no fire and the cause was due to a burst coolant pipe which created steam that was mistaken for smoke.
