Incident Summary – Day Shift Wednesday 17th July 2024

Time: 08:43 Location: Burton Stone Lane, York

Crews from York and Acomb attended a fire to a property after the occupant fell asleep with food cooking in the oven. They were woken by the alarms sounding and evacuated the property. The fire was confined to the oven and had burnt itself out upon our arrival. The fire caused 100% fire damage to the food in the oven and approx 20% smoke damage to the kitchen. Crews naturally ventilated the property, fitted two new smoke alarms and gave the occupant advice.

Time: 10:33 Location: A19 Shipton By Beningbrough

One of our officers came across a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. No persons were trapped in the vehicles which each contained 1 female. Both casualties were treated by paramedics at the scene with 1 of them being transported to hospital for further treatment with suspected minor injuries. Our officer also assisted police on scene with traffic management.

Time: 11:27 Location: Reeth Road, Richmond

Richmond crew assisted an elderly gentleman who had fallen from his mobility scooter. Crews were able to lift the male from the ground and left him in the care of his wife who came to collect him.

Time: 11:48 Location: High Street, Northallerton

Incident involved our Northallerton crew who were out and about. They came across a female aged in her 70’s who had fallen from her bicycle and suffered a suspected broken arm. Our crew were able to provide first aid until arrival of ambulance where she was transported to hospital for further treatment.

Time: 11:59 Location: Grassington

The crew from Grassington attended a property after the elderly female resident contacted fire control to inform us that whilst using her gas weed burner she had accidentally set fire to a shrub measuring 1m x 1m. The lady was able to use her water butt and hose to extinguish the fire prior to our arrival. The crew damped down and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was extinguished.

Time: 13:56 Location: Pickering

Incident involved our Malton crew assisting police in gaining entry to a property on behalf of ambulance to enable them access to a casualty. After attempts were made to gain access via the door, crews had to gain access via a first floor window using a triple extension ladder. The casualty was left in hands of paramedics.

Time: 16:04 Location: Thanet Road, York

A crew from Acomb were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open but upon arrival and inspection no fire could be found.
