Incident summary – 14 July, 2024 – Day shift

07:47  Hambleton Avenue, Thirsk

Thirsk and Northallerton fire crews responded to a report of a sparking fusebox in a domestic premises. Electricity supply was isolated with Thirsk crew standing by until incident could be handed over to the Electricity Board. The cause for the sparking being to a secondary fuse which had blown.

08:34  Hinderwell Lane, Runswick Bay

Lythe crew reattended the vicinity were they had previously been for some hours pumping water from premises affected by flooding. However, they were unable to assist on this occasion due to the water flooding up through the floor from the foundations, and so were unable to carry out pumping away operations. Advice given to home owner.

10:00  A19/Brick Kiln Lane, Burn

At Police request, both Selby appliances and a specialist officer were mobilised following a report from Transco of gas pipes either side of the road venting off. Fire crews liaised with Transco at scene, but were not required. Police were closing road at scene.

11:08  Water End, York

Following a call from Police of smoke sighted in the area, Acomb fire crew were dispatched. False alarm due to steam from railway locomotive. Advice given.

14:36  Beal

Tadcaster fire crew provided crew power to assist paramedics in assisting a male casualty from his premises and into an ambulance.

16:12  Westgate, Ripon

Ripon and Harrogate crews responded to a smell of burning in flats. Cause – cooking fumes only which had also activated the fire alarm.

They were also a fire alarm activation responded to in Huntington which proved to be a false alarm.
