Incident Summary – 29th June 2024, Day Shift

To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

08:15 Castle Road, Scarborough 
A crew from Scarborough responded to a report of a male who had become locked in his flat due to the locking mechanism breaking. Crews gained access to the flat using small tools.

09:29 Wetherby Road, York 
Crews from York, Acomb and Tadcaster responded to a report of a 2 vehicle RTC involving a bus and a Tesla car. Crews worked with paramedics to extricate 2 casualties from the car who were transported to hospital. Crews made the vehicles and scene safe and left the incident in the hands of the police.

09:48 Bankhead Road, Northallerton 
A crew from Northallerton responded to a report of a 2 year old who had become locked in a residential property having shut the door behind their parents. On the arrival of fire crews, access had been gained to the property by occupiers and no fire service action was required.

11:31 Argyle Road, Whitby 
A crew from Whitby responded to a report of a person stuck in a lift. Crews released the female from the lift using small tools and isolated the lift.

12:14 Water End, York 
Crews from Acomb and York responded to a report of a vehicle that had impacted a set of traffic lights. Crews made the vehicle safe and cordoned off the lights to be made safe by council workers.

12:55 Appleton Wiske
Crews from Northallerton along with a crew from Thornaby responded to a 2 vehicle RTC involving a Land Rover Discovery and a Vauxhall Corsa van. All occupants were out of the vehicle on the arrival of crews. 1 medium sized dog was trapped in the Land Rover in a crate. Crews gained access to the crate and released the dog using spreaders and bolt cutters.

13:07 A166 Murton 
A crew from York responded to a report of a vehicle smoking from the wheels. Crews located the vehicle and found the smoke to be caused by seized brakes overheating. Crews cooled the brakes and monitored the temperature using buckets of water and thermal imaging camera.

15:01 Stockton Road, Thirsk 
Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton responded to a report of a fire in a disused barn. Crews located the barn measuring 20m x 30m with the fire confined to one end. Crews extinguished the fire using a 45mm hose and 2 hose reel jets before damping down the area.

16:13 Gateforth Road, Gateforth 
A crew from Tadcaster responded to a report of a generator on fire in a field. Crews extingusihed the fire using 2 hose reel jets and dampened down the area.
