Incident summary – 22 June, 2024 – Day shift
To ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.
09:44 – Woodland Ravine Bridge, Scarborough
Scarborough crew were requested by Police to standby for an incident on the bridge which was quickly resolved with no fire service assistance required.
14:30 – Bawtry Road, Selby
Selby crew used a hose reel to extinguish a fire under a railway bridge set deliberately by children who were still in the vicinity and recognised by the crew as having started another fire recently in the vicinity. Police informed and are attending.
16:26 – The Stripe, Stokesley
Following a call from the public and RSPCA unable to assist at the time, Stokesley fire crew responded to a report of a squirrel trapped behind a house downpipe. As a 9 metre ladder was pitched the squirrel self-rescued to safety.
16:43 – Georg Long Mews, Easingwold
Easingwold fire crew used a bucket of water to extinguish a log which had been placed under a slide in a play park and set alight deliberately.
There were also fire alarm activations attended to in: York x2, Huntington, Acomb and Ripon. All proved false alarms.
