Incident Summary Night Shift Thursday 9th August 2018

9th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Allerston Lane, Pickering Time of call:17:45

A crew from Pickering were called to a fire seen in a field by a passer-by. This was smoke coming from a BBQ.

Catterick Road, Catterick Garrison Time of call: 18:15

Crews from Colburn and Richmond were called to a fire in a field. This was a fire to a hedge line measuring 10m and two areas of cut crop  one measuring 100m x 30m and the other measuring 80m x 20m. Crews used 2 hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish this.

Wenlock Drive, Escrick Time of call: 19:08

Crews from York and Acomb were called to a report of a tumble dryer on fire. This was extinguished using 2 sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.

Hawthorn Spinney, Huntington Time of call: 21:05

Crews from Huntington and York were called to what was believed to be a chimney fire. This was a false alarm.

Rowntree Park, York Time of call: 21:37

A crew from York were called to a bin on fire in the park. Crews extinguished using a bucket of water.

Askwith Moor Time of call: 21:41

A crew from Harrogate have worked with our West Yorkshire Fire colleagues from Otley to investigate reports of a fire on Askwith Moor. Crews conducted a thorough search of the moor but no fire was found.  

Redhouse Lane, Long Drax

Time of call: 00:00

Crews from Selby have extinguished a bailer on fire in a field near to Drax Power Station. Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and gave first aid treatment to the farmer who suffered from smoke inhalation.

We also attending fire alarm activations in York, Harrogate and Masham. These were false alarms.
