Incident Summary – Day Shift Thursday 11th April

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

False alarm – St Saviours Place, York

Time of call: 0844 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to dust from workmen. Advice given to have detectors cleaned.

 

False alarm – Albert Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 0920 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to testing of the system.

 

False alarm – Yorkersgate, Malton

Time of call: 0925 hours

Crews from Malton, Pickering and Huntington have investigated reports of smoke in the attic of a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to smoke from the chimney percolating into the roof space. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to carry out an inspection only.

 

False alarm – Lythe

Time of call: 1045 hours

A crew from Lythe has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to workmen vacuuming.

 

False alarm - Sussex Street, Bedale

Time of call: 1119 hours

 A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detection system.

 

False alarm – Navigation Road, York

Time of call: 1159 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

 

Fire – Main Street, Saxton

Time of call: 1206 hours

2 crews from Tadcaster have tackled a fire in the garden of a domestic property. The fire started in a pile of logs and spread to a garage. Slight fire damage caused to the garage and contents. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereels and a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be accidental.

 

False alarm – Main Street, Hutton Buscel

Time of call: 1325 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to defective equipment.

 

False alarm – Wigginton Road, York

Time of call: 1342 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a deodorant spray.

 

Small fire – Market Street, York

Time of call: 1437 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a small fire involving a quantity of waste cardboard. Fire was out on our arrival. Crew carried out inspection only. Cause believed to be deliberate.

 

Small fire – Clifton

Time of call: 1449 hours

A crew from Harrogate have dealt with a grass fire approx. 5m by 5m. Crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish. Cause believed to be a dropped light.
