Incident Summary Day Shift Saturday 9th August 2018

8th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

We also attended a number of fire alarm activations during the shift which turned out to be a false alarms.

Waste fire in trailer unit – Rufforth, York

Time of call: 04:37

Appliances from Acomb and York attended this incident and extinguished a trailer full of waste on fire using hose reel jets, triple extension ladders and on site machinery.

Fire in the open – Middlethorpe, York

Time of call:10:54

An appliance from Acomb attended this incident involving 3qm of logs that were smouldering and extinguished a small fire using buckets of water. The cause if believed to be deliberate.

Smell of burning in commercial premises – Seamer, Scarborough

Time of call: 11:14

Appliances from Scarborough attended this incident which turned out to be a fire involving an air conditioning unit, crews isolated the unit checked for fire spread.

Baler fire – Selby Area

Time of call: 13:38

Appliances from Selby and Tadcaster attended this incident and extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet. The cause is believed to be overheating.

Baler fire – Warthill, York

Time of call: 13:58

Appliances from York and Huntington attended this incident and extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets. The fire to the baler spread to a large bale. Both the bale and the baler were 100% fire damafed. The cause of the fire is believed to be an overheated bearing.
