Incident Summary – Night Shift 13th  April, 2019

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Fire in the open – Strensall, York

Time of call: 1801 hours

A crew from Huntington extinguished a small area of gorseland by use of a portable backpack sprayer, following deliberate ignition by youths.

False alarm - Bedale

Time of call: 1813 hours

Bedale firecrew responded to a fire alarm activation within sheltered housing – the cause being cooking fumes.

Tree fire – Great Ayton

Time of call: 1909 hours

Northallerton fire appliance extinguished a tree fire with a hose reel jet following deliberate ignition by youths.

Chimney fire - Flixton

Time of call: 1930 hours

Filey firecrew responded to a reported chimney fire. Crews inspected chimney flue as the fire had gone out.

Chimney fire – Forest Lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 2102 hours

Harrogate firecrew responded to a fire in fireplace hearth caused by falling bird’s nest debris, extinguished by use of a squeeze bottle.

Chimney fire – Thornton le Dale

Time of call: 2302 hours

A crew from Malton has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. Fire was confined to pot. Crew used thermal imaging camera & squeezy bottle of water to extinguish. Cause believed to be accumulation of soot.

False alarm – Millgate, Selby

Time of call: 2302 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to reports of a fire in the open near a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

River rescue – York

Time of call: 2340 hours

Crews from York and Acomb along with York rescue boat, have been called to assist with reports of a female in the River Ouse near Lendal Bridge. Female rescued from the water by York Rescue Boat. Fire crews stood by until she was transferred to ambulance.

Road traffic collision – A169, Low Marishes

Time of call: 2345 hours

Crews from Malton and Kirkbymoorside have dealt with a road traffic collision involving a Vauxhall Astra. 2 casualties out of the vehicle on our arrival. 1st was in care of ambulance crew. 2nd was located on the riverbank by fire crew who assisted paramedics transfer to ambulance. Crews assisted with a full search of the area for further casualties but none found. Both casualties taken to hospital. Incident left with Police. Crews used lighting, thermal imaging camera, small tools and first aid kit.

 

April 14th

Bin fire – Foreshore Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0050 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a wheelie bin on fire. Crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. Cause is deliberate.

Person locked out – Bridge View Road, Ripon

Time of call: 0524 hours

A crew from Ripon assisted a caller back into her premises and back to baby and sleeping partner after she found herself locked out with the key in the lock on the inside.
