Incident Summary – Day Shift – Wednesday 20th March

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

A64, Tadcaster Time of call: 0830

An appliance from Tadcaster attended reports of a barn fire close to the A64 at Tadcaster. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by controlled burning under supervision. Advice given to those on site by crews.

Wiggington Road, York Time of call: 1151

Acomb attended an automatic fire alarm at a hospital, this was a false alarm caused by accidental activation of a call point.

Dean Road, Scarborough Time of call: 1217

Scarborough attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential address, this was a false alarm caused by dust from workmen.

Cleveland Way, Robin Hoods Bay Time of call: 1348

A crew from Robin Hoods Bay attended reports of a fire in the open. This turned out to be a false alarm caused by controlled burning under supervision. No action was taken by the crew.

Scawton Time of call: 1441

Kirkbymoorside extinguished a car fire, crews used 2 breathing apparatus, and a hose reel jet at this incident. The car suffered 100% fire damage.

Thornganby Time of call: 1604

Appliances from York, Acomb, Huntington & Selby along with a water bowser from Tadcaster were mobilised to a industrial workshop on fire. *this incident is still ongoing*. The building suffered approximately 40% fire damage in this incident. Crews worked extremely hard to stop the fire spreading to other buildings. The ALP was used to inspect the roof for fire spread, hose reel jets, foam jets and small tools were also used. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, but fire investigations will take place tomorrow.
