Incident Summary – Day Shift – Thursday 14th March

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred:

Cumberland Street, York Time of call 08:50

York attended an automatic fire alarm, this turned out to be a false alarm caused by a fault on the system.

The Shambles, York Time of call 09:54

Acomb & York  attended an automatic fire alarm, this turned out to be a false alarm caused by a workmen testing system.

Wiggington Road, York Time of call 09:54

Acomb attended an automatic fire alarm, this turned out to be a false alarm caused by dust in the detector head.

Scorton Road, Brompton On Swale Time of call 11:34

Colburn & Richmond attended a single vehicle road traffic collision. The incident involved a Citroen Berlingo van leaving the road and ending up in a hedge. 1 male casualty in his 50s was extricated from the vehicle by crews using hydraulic cutting equipment, small tools and stabilisation equipment. The casualty was taken to hospital via road ambulance with head injuries.

A65, Feizor Time of call 12:07

Settle and Bentham crews attended a HGV that had veered onto soft ground off the carriageway and overturned. 1 male driver aged approx. 35 years old was out of the vehicle on arrival and was taken to hospital via road ambulance with back injuries. Crews assisted by making the scene safe.

Norby, Thirsk Time of call 13:06

Appliances from Thirsk & Northallerton attended a fire in a garden that spread to a garden fence and a BBQ butane cylinder. The fire caused damage to approx 2m of fencing, and the exterior of 2 residential properties including soffits, downpipes, windows and extractor fan vents. Crews led 2 residents to safety from the house, and a female was treated on scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was due to a dropped cigarette. 2 hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera was used at this incident.

Hospital Road, Malton Time of call 13:19

A crew from Malton attended an unsafe chimney stack, the fire service cordoned off the area using barrier tape in case of collapse and gave advice to the estates manager.

York Road, Knaresborough Time of call 16:54

Knaresborough attended a fire to the brakes of a Vauxhall Astra, fire was out on arrival and was caused by the brakes locking on. Crews used 1 hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera for this incident.
